Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco, a Canadian-American singer and songwriter. Her catalog includes more than 20 albums. DiFranco's music has been classified as folk-rock and alternative rock although it also has influence from hip music and jazz. The widely regarded feminist icon Grammy award winner Ani DiFranco was the founder of the DIY movement, and was among the pioneers to establish her own record label in 1990. DiFranco born on 23 September 1970 in the city of Buffalo in New York. She is the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross), who was introduced to Dante Americo DiFranco while studying at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her mother hails from Montreal and her father is of Italian heritage. Ani diFranco was the composer and singer of the song 32 Flavors. The song was featured on her album Not a Pretty Girl which was released in 1995. A version of the song can be heard in the 1999 Canadian romantic film Better Than Chocolate. In 2013, DiFranco apologised after it was revealed that she would be hosting an event for three days at a former Louisiana plantation for slaves.
